Sophomore Robbie Berg became the first-ever Jayhawk volleyball player to earn NJCAA Div. II First Team All-American honors. The 26-17 Jayhawks were ranked 19th in the nation and advanced to the 2017 MCCAA championship match and the semifinals of the 2017 NJCAA Region XII Championships.

The MCC wrestlers defeated Alfred St. 35-12 and Mercyhurst NE 31-12 at the Niagara (NY) County CC Duals on Dec. 1. The next day at the Thunderwolves Open, MCC placed all nine wrestlers with Dren Bratrum totally dominating at 149 lbs. to take first place. MCC competes in Illinois on Dec. 9.

The MCC women finished 30th in the nation at the NJCAA Cross Country Championship in Fort Dodge, Iowa on Nov. 11, when Jayhawk sophomore Kendra Irvine tied her personal best college time to place 136th in the country.

Mitch Johnson

Men’s Cross Country

Freshman Mitch Johnson took 77th in the nation to lead the men’s team to a 34th place finish at the NJCAA National Cross Country Championships on Nov. 11 in Fort Dodge. Johnson trailed only three Lansing CC runners as Michigan’s top finishers. He had the fourth best ever men’s national finish by a Jayhawk.

Emily Winicki MCC Women's Soccer

Women’s Soccer

Freshman Emily Winicki, who scored a school-record 18 goals with four assists this season, was voted the MCCAA Women’s Soccer Freshman of the Year. The Fruitport High grad netted seven game-winning goals – sixth best in the nation in that category – for the 9-7-1 Jayhawks, who were the NJCAA Region XII runner-up this season.

Noah Hendricks placed ninth in the nation in the 800 meters and Collen Casey took 19th in the nation in the 400 meter hurdles at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 20 in Hutchinson, Kansas.
