Muskegon Community College hosted the MCCAA Region XII Bowling tournament today at Northway Lanes in Muskegon. The women’s team had a strong showing, finishing in 2nd place and qualifying for the NJCAA National Tournament in Buffalo, NY. Jamie Perry (Charles F. Brush HS/Ohio) was crowned the singles champion and the team of Perry and Abby Lowe (Oakridge HS) placed 3rd in the doubles competition. In All Events (8 games), Perry finished in 2nd, Kendra Schuitema (Ravenna HS) finished in 5th and Ashlyn Cross (Mona Shores HS) finished 10th.
The men’s team finished in 3rd place overall. The team of Tony Long (Mona Shores HS) and AJ Perrier (Grand Haven HS) finished 3rd in the doubles competition. In All Events it was Long in 5th place and Jarod Wierengo (Fruitport HS) in 11th place. Those two bowlers also qualify to compete at Nationals.
Erie Community College in Buffalo New York is the host school for the National Tournament. Bowling will be at Airport Lanes in Cheektowaga, NY on Saturday, March 3.
