Muskegon Community College picked up their first conference victory with a wild, come from behind 21-20 victory over the Courgars of Kalamazoo Valley Community College but dropped game two 15-6.
In game one the Jayhawks pounded out 26 hits for the win. Kirsten Johnson (Lakeview HS) and Brooklyn Samlow (Fruitport HS) each had 4 hits with Chase Jancek (Montague HS), Alessa Buchner (Oakridge HS), Bree Weck (Orchard View HS) and Alessa Slade (Ravenna HS) all picking up 3 hits. Kirsten Sweet (Fruitport HS) came on in relief and was the beneficiary of the wild 6 run 7th inning for the victory.
The Jayhawks bats cooled off in the game two loss but Samlow stayed hot at the plate with 2 home runs and 5 RBI for the Jayhawks.
MCC is now 1-5 in conference play and 6-13 overall. They return to the diamond for a doubleheader on Wednesday, 4/11 when they host Lake Michigan College. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
