The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team won a close game 60-56 over the Hope College JV squad.

MCC’s offense came out on fire and scored 22 points in the 1st quarter while giving up 18. The offense cooled slightly in the 2nd quarter but the defense stepped up and the Jayhawks enjoyed a 36-26 half time lead. The Dutch stepped up their game in the 2nd half, but MCC kept their composure and held on for the win. “What a tough win tonight against a good team,” said Coach Jason Cooper. “The team came together tonight. We were better on defense than we have been and I was happy to see better team rebounding as well. We are sill learning as a team, but I’m happy with our progress tonight”. Ty’veonna Davis (Muskegon) filled the stat sheet with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists and Gaby Reeve (White Cloud) chipped in with 11 points and 3 boards. Maiya Hill (Union) was the top rebounder with 10; she added 7 points, 5 assists and 3 steals.

MCC’s record moves to 2-1. They will host Cornerstone University JV on Thursday, 11/16 with tip off scheduled for 5:30 pm.
