Muskegon Community College won an exciting game at home against rival Grand Rapids Community College 52-50.
Elysia Mattos (Reeths-Puffer HS), Sam Taylor (Cedar Springs HS) and Delaney Bolles (Reeths-Puffer HS) all finished with 13 points. Tierra Williams (Muskegon HS) grabbed a team high 11 rebounds and Janaya Ferrell (Orchard View HS) provided a spark off the bench with 7 points and 9 boards.
“The fact that we got this win with only having 6 players is a true testament of the determination in this team,” said Head Coach Amanda Parker. “They very easily could have given up, but they stuck together and battled all game long together. I am extremely proud of them and hopefully this helps us gain a little confidence moving forward.”
The Jayhawks are now 1-1 in the Western Conference and 8-5 overall. They return to action on Wednesday with a trip to Kellogg Community College for a 5:30 pm game.
