Jayhawk Scramble, Scholarship Lunch Raise a Record $15,895
The Foundation for Muskegon Community College 2015 Jayhawk Scramble and Jayhawk Scholarship Lunch on June 5 at University Park Golf Course raised a record $15,895 for MCC scholarships thanks to generous and enthusiastic sponsors, benefactors and participants.
The total represents a 16% increase in profits over the 2014 Jayhawk Scramble.
“It’s gratifying to work with the businesses and individuals who are committed to increasing access to higher education,” said Tina Dee, Director of the Foundation for Muskegon Community College. “I find it especially rewarding when our donors have the opportunity to learn about the positive impact of their support directly from FMCC scholarship recipients.”
At the Jayhawk Scholarship Lunch, which followed the competition, three MCC student scholarship recipients – TeAnna Friday, Zach Cooper and Chance Eigenauer – shared how their scholarships created educational opportunities that transformed their lives.
The Local #174 team of Ryan Bennett, Wes Eklund, Mark Mangione and Andy Zorn – finished 14-under par to take first place. Golfing expertise was also displayed by several award winners: closest to the pin – Mike Stolonsburg; longest drives – Levi Byker and Jamie Adams; and putting contest winner – John DeWind. Tim Webber was the lucky winner of The Ultimate Golfing Experience – 22 rounds of golf at seven local courses.
