‘After Parkland: A Student Discussion on Gun Control’ at MCC

4/17/2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Muskegon Community College’s popular “And Justice for All . . .” series continues on Tuesday, April 17, with “After Parkland: A Student Discussion on Gun Control” from 6-8 p.m. in Stevenson Center Room 1100.

In the wake of the mass shooting in Parkland, FL, the topic of gun control has received national media coverage. However, not all citizens agree on what gun control is or how restrictive it should be. MCC students, faculty, and outside activists will discuss the various ways that gun control affects the lives of the average American.

The event is free and the public is encouraged to participate. Michelle L. Johnson, a MCC Sociology and Anthropology instructor, will facilitate the discussion.

MCC student Stephanie Carr, Secretary of the MCC Social Sciences Association, will moderate the panel. Other MCC student panelists include: Vincent Alvesteffer, President of the MCC Social Sciences Association; Jeremy Wahr, editor of The Bay Window; and Alyssa Jakielek, a member of the MCC Social Sciences Association. Also participating on the panel are MCC History Instructor Samantha Warber and Reeths-Puffer High School student Eli Nichols, who organized Reeths-Puffer’s #ENOUGH Walkout.

For more information on the “And Justice for All . . .” series, contact the MCC Office of the Provost at (231) 777-0266.
