Snurfing Competition

1/24/2015 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$20.00

Muskegon Community College Alumni Relations is co-hosting a Snurfing Competition at noon on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 at the Muskegon State Park Winter Sports Complex. The competition costs $20, with registration near the lodge at the complex starting at 10:30am.

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Snurfer, invented by Sherman Poppen in the late 60s, the MCC Alumni Association will be giving out Snurfers to the competition champs. Long thought to be the forerunner of today’s modern snowboarding, Snurfing was wildly popular in its day, and continues to challenge even the most skilled downhill enthusiasts. MCC held the first “World Snurfing Competition” in 1968 and holds an integral part in the history of Snurfing and snowboarding. The competition on Jan. 24 will be held on the original Blockhouse hill.

For more information, go to www.muskegoncc.edu/snurfing or call MCC Alumni Relations at 231-777-0461.
