Ping pong, board games, video games and computer games are part of the activities planned for Saturday, Nov. 19, at MCC’s Hendrik Meijer Library during the 2016 International Games Day celebration.

MCC is joining libraries across the world in this global festival. Last year, more than 2,000 libraries on six continents hosted games in which a combined 86,000 people participated.

Gamers of all ages – those under 16 years will need a responsible adult with them – are invited to take part in the contests being staged in and around the MCC Library. The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. is free, but participants should register at https://goo.gl/forms/EHMpKKpMa3ILK8Rr1. Food will be available for purchase at the Brooksider and Bookstore in the MCC building.

One of the contests is a Mario Kart tournament vs. the Muskegon Area District Library Norton Shores branch. International Games Day at the college is being organized by the MCC Library, Business Department, Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department and the Jayhawk Gaming Club. Support has been graciously provided by Meijer and the Byte Gaming Club.

As part of the local event, donation items for the Kids Food Basket will be accepted. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, such as individual fruit cups or pudding cups, cracker packs, granola bars, 100% fruit juice boxes, bulk pretzels, Cheerios (plain) or bulk Cheez-its or Goldfish crackers.
