Local Law Enforcement Conducts Lockdown Drill at MCC

The Muskegon Community College campus was temporarily closed at 10:30 a.m. this morning for a lockdown drill organized and conducted by MCC, Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Management, and the Muskegon Police Department.

Normal classes and office operations were interrupted, while employees and students participated in the drill. The exercise concluded at 11:00 a.m.

Participating agencies included Michigan State Police, Muskegon Township Police, Norton Shores Police Department, Grand Valley State University Campus Police, Clare County Emergency Services and representatives from Mid-Michigan College.

In all, approximately 30 law enforcement officers participated in the event, which is part of Muskegon Community College’s ongoing crisis prevention training for employees and students.
