MCC Supports Lakeshore Youth Leadership Program

Muskegon Community College has awarded $6,000 to support the Lakeshore Youth Leadership Connections program during the 2017-18 academic year.

Each year, 20 students are selected from the 8th and 10th grades in the Grand Haven Area Public Schools and the Muskegon Public Schools to participate in the Lakeshore Youth Leadership Connections program. Participants cultivate their leadership skills and enhance both their personal skills and their capacity to create change as leaders. In addition, the students obtain a better understanding of each community and learn to respect the similarities and differences of each area.

“I am excited that Muskegon Community College has been added to this exciting and new collaborative educational program with an innovative approach to assisting youth to develop their communication skills,” said Nancy Manglos, the Lakeshore Connections Program Director. “In addition, the connections and bridges the students are building will strengthen the relationship between Northwest Ottawa County and Muskegon County,”

“We at Muskegon Community College are honored to support the Lakeshore Youth Leadership Program,” said MCC President Dale K. Nesbary. “Each year, participating students prove that no barrier is insurmountable and no challenge too great.  The opportunity to continue this collaboration is one that could not be lost.
