Muskegon Area Honors Orchestra Fall Concert Nov. 19 at Frauenthal

Muskegon Area Honors Orchestra

The Muskegon Area Honors Orchestra will perform four selections on Sunday, Nov. 19, during its Fall Concert titled “Choose Your Own Symphony” at 3 p.m. in the Frauenthal Center.

Under the direction of Philip David DeYoung, the orchestra will perform:

  • Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, mvt. 1
  • Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, mvt. 2
  • Johannes Brahms’s Symphony No. 2, mvt. 3
  • Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, mvt. 4

Tickets are $7 for adults and $2 for students and may be purchased at the Frauenthal Center Box Office, 425 W. Western Ave. in downtown Muskegon.

The Muskegon Area Honors Orchestra, comprised of high school and college students, provides these young individuals with performance and musical experiences that go above and beyond that of their regular high school or youth orchestra settings.

Participating students have the opportunity of earning college credit during their time with the ensemble and receive regular instruction from exemplary section coaches. They are exposed to literature carefully selected from the standard orchestral repertoire, as well as challenging new works.
