Wind and Jazz Ensembles Perform April 11 in Overbrook Theater

Tim Froncek with guitaristThe Muskegon Community College Wind and Jazz Ensembles will present their spring concert on Wednesday, April 11, in the Overbrook Theater. The program, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m.

The Wind Ensemble, conducted Daniel M. Meyers, opens with “Radetzky March” by Johann Strauss and arranged by Robert W. Thygerson. The group will then perform “Overture for Winds” by Charles Carter, “Trauersinfonie” by Richard Wagner, “A Festival Prelude” by Alfred Reed, and “Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral” by Richard Wagner and transcribed by Lucien Calliet.

Following intermission, the Jazz Ensemble, directed by Tim Froncek, leads off with the “Blues Brothers Theme” by Jake and Elwood Blues. The ensemble will then play “Blues in Hoss Flat” as ranged by Mark Taylor, “Soul Bossa Nova” with an arrangement by Mike Lewis, and “20 Nickels” by Doug Beach and George Shutack.
