William Loxterman, Director of Public Information
Bill Loxterman served on the North Muskegon City Council for 15 years, the past serveral as Mayor Pro Tem, before "retiring" from local politics in November 2005. He has been co-chairman of the Muskegon Area Chamber of Commerce Early Bird Breakfast Committee; is the current president of the Muskegon Rotary Club; Co-Chairman of City of Muskegon Public Relations Committee; Past President of Old Newsies of Muskegon County; Director and former president of the Muskegon County Museum Board of Trustees; member of the Muskegon Conservation Club; former trustee for the Muskegon Environmental & Research Education Society (MERES).
Serving as an adjunct business instructor for MCC since 1991, Loxterman primarily teaches marketing and advertising courses. On occasion he has been called upon to teach introduction to business, management, and effective selling. His primary responsibilities as Director of Public Information for MCC include publications, advertising, public relations, and special events. He also serves as a staff liaison to the Foundation for Muskegon Community College. He joined MCC in 1985 as Director of Business & Industrial Training, and has held his current position since 1987.
He holds a Master’s of Public Administration, Western Michigan University (1991); Bachelor’s of Science in Journalism, Ohio University (1969). Prior to working for MCC, Loxterman was General Manager of a cable television company based in Monroe, MI for two years (1983-1985.) Worked for the Muskegon Chronicle 1969-1983, lastly as Community Relations/Employment/Promotion Manager. (He came to Greater Muskegon right out of college in 1969 as a Booth Newspaper business trainee.)
Along with his wife, Kenna, he has lived in the City of North Muskegon since February of 1971. He likes to sail, golf, walk, and attend area cultural events. He enjoys discussing and participating in politics. He has been married to Kenna (5th grade teacher with Ravenna Public Schools) for many years. His son Michael, who attended North Muskegon schools through the 10th grade, is married to 1987 North Muskegon grad Jennifer Johnson and together they created the most incredible grandson on the face of the Earth --- Liam Ragnar Loxterman (now six years old).
