Where is the blackboard request form?
Starting in the Fall Semester of 2008, you no longer need to request courses using the BB request form. MCC uses a special process called Snapshot to create Blackboard users, courses, and enrollments from information in Datatel Colleague.
How do I and my students access courses?
When you log into Blackboard, you will see classes for each course you are teaching for the semester. All courses created by Snapshot are "Unavailable" allowing you to control which courses are available to your students and at what time. Simply set your course properties to available for each class in which you have students actively participating in Blackboard.
How do I develop my courses?
You have a few options that weren't available before. Instructors can now choose to either develop their courses from scratch, or import material from previous classes into their new courses. Detailed instructions on how to accomplish this are available within Blackboard in the Blackboard Tips class, where you should be enrolled as a student. You can click here for the import & export document: exporting_importing_your_BB_class.pdf. Special thanks to Sue Meeuwenberg for creating this documentation. Importing and exporting your own course work gives you greater control of developing your courses.
I still have questions, where can I get help?
For help with importing and exporting your course work into your new courses, please contact us. Currently, Mike Alstrom is lead support for Blackboard Issues, and you can contact him directly through email at mike.alstrom@muskegoncc.edu. Be sure to include your source course ID and section number, along with what course you would like information copied to. Additionally, OIT staff have been trained to assist with importing and exporting BB courses, so feel free to use helpdesk@muskegoncc.edu also.
