Richard Alexander

I started teaching at MCC in 1992 as an adjunct (part-time) instructor, then became a full-time faculty member in 2004. I currently teach General and Abnormal Psychology on campus, and Applied Psychology online. I've also been an adjunct faculty member at Grand Rapids Community College, Davenport College, Henry Ford Community College, and Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York.

I earned my B.A. in Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook (now called Stony Brook University) and my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University. I was in clinical practice as a therapist and supervisor for 28 years before switching to full-time teaching. For the first half of my clinical career I specialized in child and family therapy; the second half, in substance abuse treatment.

Please feel free to email me at Richard.Alexander@muskegoncc.edu. You also can stop by the Social Science Department, Room 242, during my fall semester on-campus office hours on Tuesday and Thursday: 9:00-10:00, 2:25-3:25, and 5:30-6:00. I also hold online office hours for my students via Blackboard IM.

My office phone number is 231-777-0340. I do not check voice mail on days when I am not in the office, and from the end of April until the end of August, so email usually is a better bet for getting in touch with me.
