TOTS - Student Organization

TOTS (Teachers of Tomorrow's Students) is a student organization at Muskegon Community College that began in January 2005.  The club is open to students in the education and childcare fields, or anyone that is interested in children and their welfare.

The goal of this organization is to enhance our education by:

• offering our members the opportunity to attend workshops and conferences on childhood issues
• inviting guest speakers to speak to our group on child advocacy issues
• to be active in the community participating in various service learning projects

TOTS is a student affiliation of the following organizations:

• LAEYC (Lakeshore Association for the Education of Young Children)
• MIAEYC (Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children)
• NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children)

It is our aim to:

• afford each member a membership to the NAEYC
• afford each member his or her place at the MIAEYC Conference to be held in 2008
• help with operating the LAEYC (Lakeshore Association) Early Childhood Conference in November 2007 to be held here at MCC
• host a TOTS children's activity booth at Mayfest in Spring 2008
