Muskegon Mayfest 5/17/08 Presentations
The Michigan Archaeological Society, W. L. Coffinberry Chapter, will Avocational Archaeologists present to answer questions and help identify and date Native American “arrowheads” and other artifacts that you may bring in. Bring in that old “arrowhead” collection and find out more about them. Numerous artifacts will be on display, from about 5000+ years old to Lumber Era artifacts. There will be several powerpoint and video presentations, including information about excavations along the Muskegon River, with artifacts that have been found that date back about 2200 years old.

11:30 am Presentation: “Davis Swamp Site Excavation”
This is an ongoing excavation along the Muskegon River, with pottery fragments found that are estimated to be about 2200 years old.
1:30 pm Presentation: “West Michigan Archaeology”
This will be a summary of what kinds of archaeological sites are found in West Michigan.
2:30 pm Presentation: “Davis Swamp Site Excavation”
This is an ongoing excavation along the Muskegon River, with pottery fragments found that are estimated to be about 2200 years old.
