Online Tutoring 

A new way of Online Tutoring is here!!

Since 2008, Muskegon Community College has made online tutoring available to any of its students who qualify for tutoring under normal guidelines. Students are strongly advised to take advantage of this free service. 

Notice: Online tutoring, just like traditional tutoring, is NOT a substitute for classroom instruction. The student is fully expected to attend lectures and utilize tutoring (online or otherwise) as an additional supplement to his or her learning.

How to Create a Wimba Pronto Account

Since Wimba Pronto Basic is linked to MCC's Blackboard, you must access Wimba Pronto page via a Pronto link in Blackboard.

Step 1: Log into Blackboard.

Step 2: Click on Tools in your menu system.

Step 3: Scroll to the bottom and click on Wimba Pronto.

Step 4: Complete the Account Registration Form. Use your email account from MCC  

Step 5: Click the Submit button. A confirmation email is sent to the address you provided.

Step 6: Check your email.

Step 7: Click the confirmation link in the email. Your account is activated.

Note: Unlike other instant messaging programs, in Wimba Pronto Basic, you are identified by your full name, as it appears in the MCC Blackboard system. There is also a Pronto ID associated with your account, which is used for logging in, managing your account and allowing users who are not in your classes to contact you.

Download Wimba Pronto Basic

After creating your Wimba Pronto account, you can download and install the Wimba Pronto Basic client. You can perform this step immediately after activating your account or at a later time.

  • Downloading and Installing Wimba Pronto basic for Windows or Mac.

    Step 1: Log in to the Wimba Pronto page using your Pronto ID and password.

    • If you just activated your account, you may already be logged in to the Wimba Pronto Settings page.
    • If you did not just activate your account or you need to download and install Wimba Pronto Basic again, go to http://pronto.wimba.com and sign in using your Pronto ID and password.

    Step 2: Click the Download Wimba Pronto for Windows graphic or click Mac OSx graphic.

     Step 3: Click Run to download the Wimba Pronto executable file and run the installation program.

    Step 4: Select a default language for the Wimba Pronto client.

    Step 5: Click OK.

    Step 6: Click Next>.

    Step 7: Review the license agreement and click I Agree.

    Step 8: Select whether you wish to install Desktop and QuickLaunch Shortcuts. The recommendation is to select both.

    Step 9: Click Next>

    Step 10: Select where you wish to install Wimba Pronto . Recommendation: Accept the default location.

    Step 11: Click Install. Wimba Pronto is installed and a confirmation screen opens.

    Step 12: Select whether you wish to run the program right away.

    Step 13: Click Finish.

    Accessing Wimba Pronto

    The Wimba Pronto Settings page is a web portal that allows you to view and manage your account settings and login information, as well as determine which of your courses appear in Wimba Pronto . You can access the Wimba Pronto Setting page either from a link within Wimba Pronto or directly using your web browser.

    To access the Wimba Pronto Settings page from Wimba Pronto

    Step 1: Click the Pronto Menu.

    Step 2: Select Account Settings. The Wimba Pronto Settings login page opens in your web browser.

    Step 3: Type your Pronto ID.

    Step 4: Type your Pronto password.

    Step 5: Click the Sign In button.

    To Access the Wimba Pronto Settings page from a Web Browser

    Step 1: Go to the URL  http://pronto.wimba.com.

    Step 2: Type your Pronto ID.

    Step 3: Type your Pronto password.

    Step 4: Click the Sign in button.

    Tip:

    You can also access the Wimba Pronto Settings page, without logging in again, from Blackboard. If you forget your password and security question, this is the best way to access your Wimba Pronto account.
