The MCC Music Department has been revitalized with support from President Dr. Dale Nesbary and the MCC Board of Trustees. Through their commitment, music is expanding to include performance-based ensembles and additional music curricula.

Jazz Ensemble, directed by Tim Froncek, is a select big band jazz ensemble that performs publicly.
The Jazz Ensemble provides students the opportunity to rehearse and perform outstanding literature in contemporary and traditional big band jazz. The ensemble is dedicated to increasing the knowledge of jazz literature and improving skills in improvisation and ensemble playing. Special consideration is given to the rehearsal and performance of student compositions and arrangements.

Wind Ensemble is a select ensemble dedicated to preparing and performing the finest traditional, contemporary and transcribed literature for wind ensemble. An emphasis is placed on understanding the pieces from an aesthetic and stylistic basis. The Wind Ensemble performs publicly and may include regional tours. Daniel M. Meyers will be directing and conducting the Jayhawk Sound and Wind Ensemble.
MCC College Singers is directed by Tom Clark is the colleges concert choir.
