What is a developmental course?

A "developmental" course is one you may be required to take based on your ACT, Compass, or MME scores.  These courses will help you build necessary skills in writing, reading, and math, although they do not count toward graduation.  Most are offered through MCC's College Success Center

Below is the course sequence for each skill area.  English 101 and BCOM 101 are the first “college-level” Writing courses.  Math 050 may earn college credit in certain circumstances, but many programs require a 100-level math course.

If you tested into a developmental course but feel you may not have been placed correctly, consider investigating the SPA program and Fast-Track math.
