Automotive Collision Repair
This program provides students with the foundation skills and knowledge to perform collision repair and refinishing according to manufacturer’s specifications. Students completing the degree will have hands-on experience in problem solving and dealing with issues relating to collision repair.
Using the I-CAR Training Alliance Curriculum, the students will learn to:
- provide estimates
- use both hand and power tools
- straighten frames
- replace damaged parts
- repair dents and creases
- refinish painted surfaces
Numerous employment opportunities exist throughout the collision repair field for formally trained collision repair technicians. The new program is currently an area of emphasis in MCC’s Automotive Technology Associates Degree program. In the future, a new associate's degree in Automotive Collision Repair will be developed.
Muskegon Community College is partnering with the Muskegon Career Tech Center to offer the auto collision repair courses. Those courses will be held at the Muskegon Career Tech Center with the remainder of the program courses held at the MCC main campus.
The first available course for Fall 2013 is called “Introduction to Refinishing” (AT 297AR).
