April, 2008 - Mary Ellen VanStempvoort joined staff as adjunct librarian. Mary Ellen has a comprehensvive library background with experience in many areas of librarianship.
February, 2008 - The library proudly presents the traveling exhibit entitled Welcome to Idlewild: The Black Eden of Michigan. The exhibit is the result of a collaborative effort of the Michigan State University Museum/Michigan Traditional Arts Program and the Idlewild Historical Museum and Cultural Center.
December, 2007 - Added Oxford Islamic Studies Online database which provides information on the history and culture of Islam with full-text access to Oxford reference works such as The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamic World, The Oxford History of Islam, The Oxford Dictionay of Islam, and classic interpretations of the Quran, a concordance of the Quran and other works. The Oxford Dictionary
December, 2007 - Added Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. This database contains "56,000 biographies of people who shaped the history of the British Isles and beyond, from the earliest times to the year 2004". A very useful database for History 101.
October, 2007 - Rosetta Stone, foreign language software, installed on Library computers. Languages include Arabic, Chinese Mandarin, English (U.S.), German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish (Latin America).
May, 2007 - Dana Troutman joined staff as adjunct librarian for weekends and additional days as needed.
May, 2007 - Library display honors the MCC Nursing Department. The Department received accreditation from the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) for its stellar Associate Degree Nursing Program. The display features correspondence, self-study report, pictures, and nursing memorabilia. A ceremony was held in the library in recognition of this achievement.
April, 2007 - Jean Scarbrough retired as adjunct librarian.
November, 2006 - MCC's 80th birthday celebration held in upper level of Library on November 30th. Faculty, staff, students and community guests attended and heard speeches by President David Rule, V.P. Diana Osborn, Alumni Association President Julie Weller, MCC Foundation Chair John VanWyck, and MCC Board of Trustees Chair Ann Oakes.

October, 2006 - Proxy server established to provide access to remote databases via single login. Students use login established in September, 2006 to gain access to databases from off-campus. Currently enrolled students now have access to JSTOR and other premium databases from off-campus.
September, 2006 - MCC students gain access to library computers via new login procedure. The new login provides personal file space and access to files from off-campus. Community guests receive day passes to use Internet computers.
July, 2006 - Su Bell retired as library paraprofessional.
April 28, 2006 - The Library homepage moved to the MCC website. The URL changed at that time to http://muskegoncc.edu/library.
April, 2006 - Willie German joined staff as paraprofessional in Information Commons.
March, 2006 - Gala Grand Opening Event held on March 30th in the new library from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
March 2006 - April 2007 - A Journey to America: the Latvian Experience on display. This historical collection of Latvian correspondence, dress and other items from daily life chronicles the Latvians as they made their way from Europe to the United States.
March, 2006 - Readers Guide Retrospective database added to our collection of online indexes to periodicals. This WilsonWeb database is an index to over 100 years of popular publications.
January, 2006 - Play Index added to our WilsonWeb subscription. This database includes citations to 30,000 plays from 1949 to the present. It includes a search form that allows searching by several aspects including number of actors, audience level, author, title and subject.
January, 2006 - The contents of the library were moved from the old location to the new Hendrik Meijer Library/Information Technology Center January 2nd through the 6th. The library reopened in the new Hendrik Meijer facility on January 9th.
October, 2005 - Beginning in January, 2006 our name will change from Allen G. Umbreit Library to Hendrik Meijer Library/Information Technology Center as we begin operations in the new building.
October, 2005 - Two new EbscoHost databases added: CINAHL with Full Text and Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition. Available off-campus with password.
October, 2005 - LitFinder database added. This Gale database contains the full text of over 125,000 poems, 5,000 short stories, thousands of essays and speeches and over 1,000 plays. It also includes citations to additional literary works not included in the full text database.
September, 2005 - Essay and General Literature Index added to our WilsonWeb subscription.
August, 2005 - Hours for Fall/Winter semesters have been been expanded. Beginning August 29 we close at 11:00 pm on Monday through Thursday and at 5:00 pm on Saturdays. Check our hours page for complete schedule.
March, 2005 - Three databases have been added to our WilsonWeb subscription. We added the Short Story Index, Children's Catalog, and Children's Catalog Archive.
February, 2005 - CQ Historic Document Series added to online databases from CQ Press. Covers current events from 1972 to present. Available off-campus with password.
April, 2004 - Columbia Granger's Poetry added to our online databases. This database is an index to 400,000 poems. The full text of approximately 50,000 poems are available online. Available off-campus with password.
February, 2004 - Library now has 29 computers for Internet and research use.
February, 2004 - JSTOR added to research databases. Good resource for scholarly journals in the arts and sciences. Contains the full text of 230 journals published from the late 1800s to approximately five years ago. On-campus use only.
Fall, 2003 - Serial Solutions implemented to search our online and print periodical holdings title lists.
September, 2003 - Betty Swanson, formerly at the interlibrary loan office at Central Michigan University, hired to replace Connie Holmberg in Interlibrary Loan.
May, 2003 - Connie Holmberg moved from Interlibrary Loan to Technical Processing to replace Louanne Feuerborn who is retiring.
