Information Literacy

Information Literacy involves:

  1. Recognizing the need for information.
  2. Locating the information.
  3. Evaluating the information.
  4. Using the information effectively.
  5. Understanding the economic, legal, and social issues surrounding the use of information and its access.  Using information ethically and legally.

A sixth step may be added:

6.  Reassessing the original information need; possibly restructuring the question and going back to step 1.
