At the 2017-18 Athletics Awards Luncheon on May 30, basketball players Sergio Diaz and Samantha Taylor were named the Male Athlete of the Year and Female Athlete of the Year, respectively. First Team All-American volleyball player Robbie Berg won the John G. Thompson Student Athlete of the Year Award.

In the National Junior College Athletic Association District 12, Region 9 semifinal, the MCC men’s basketball team forced the nation’s second ranked team Ancilla College into overtime on March 8 before losing 94-88. The Jayhawks finish the season with a 16-14 record.

The MCC women’s bowling team finished fifth in the nation at the NJCAA Championships in Buffalo, NY, on March 2-3. Jamie Perry was seventh nationally in the singles competition and 17th in the all-events standings. The doubles team of Breanna Stroven and Ashlyn Cross took 16th in the nation.
