Muskegon Community College traveled to Kalamazoo Valley Community College for a makeup doubleheader with the Courgars and came home with a split, losing the opener 7-1 but bouncing back to claim a 6-4 win in the nightcap.
In game one the Jayhawks watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover. KVCC scored runs in the first 4 innings. Tyus Beach (East Kentwood HS) and Tyson Seymour (Gladstone HS) were both 2-3 for the game.
Game two started as a repeat of game one with KVCC jumping out to a 2-0 lead after the 1st inning but MCC put up 3 runs in the top of the 2nd only to see KVCC add a run in the bottom of the 2nd for a 3-3 tie, then tack on a run in the 4th for a 4-3 lead. The Jayhawks scored 2 runs in the 6th to go back in front then added an insurance run in the 7th for the victory. Sean Casey (Grand Haven HS) earned the win, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits and striking out 9 for the complete game gem.
