The Muskegon Community College baseball team beat Mid Michigan College in Mt. Pleasant in both games of a doubleheader, 8-0 and 8-5.
In Game one MCC got strong pitching from Nathan Dolittle (Forest Hills Central HS), who threw 7 innings of no hit, no walk baseball. The Jayhawk offense pounded out 10 hits, scoring 2 runs in the 1st, 3 runs in the 4th and 3 runs in the 7th. Cal Kryska (Grandville HS) provided the offensive punch with a 3-4 game. Jared Evans (Lakeshore HS) and Mitch Gumbko (Forest Hills Northern HS) were each 1-3 with 2 RBI.
In game two MCC was able to hold off a 7th inning rally for the win. Grayson Makranyi (Flushing HS) picked up the win on the mound. Kryska continued to pound the ball, going 4-5. Luke Lacross (Traverse City West HS) was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI. MCC also got home runs from Matt Corrado (Traverse City Central) and Gumbko.
MCC is now 9-5 in conference play and 19-14-1 overall. They will look for the season sweep of Mid Michigan when they host on Saturday, 4/17. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
