The Jayhawk Baseball team completed the conference sweep of Bay College with 3 wins; 11-1, 7-5 and 6-2.
Ethan Prins (Grand Haven HS) picked up the win in the run-rule opener with 5 innings of 4 hit, 4 strikeout work. Andrew Dukesherer (Grandville HS) got the win in game 2 throwing 6.2 innings with Joey Underwood (Chippewa Valley HS) recording the final out in the 7th. Sawyer Meeuwes (Big Rapids) was the winning pitcher in game 3 with 6 innings pitched and 7 strikeouts. Trevor Garrett (Clarkston) worked a clean 7th inning.
MCC got plenty of offense in the 3 games, recording a total of 24 hits with 5 homeruns. Cole Olson (Central Montcalm HS) finished 5-10 with a homerun, Kenton Vander Wal (W. MI Aviation Academy) was 4-6 with a home run, Mason Brunworth (Mona Shores HS) was 4-6 and Abdiel Gonzalez (Lake Orion HS) was 3-6. The Jayhawks got 2 hits each from Brandon Butkus (Allendale) including his 1st collegiate homerun and Bryce Lesher (St. Joe HS) who also had a homerun. Nate Lovell (Tri-County) also finished the day with a home run.
MCC is now 7-0 in the Northern Conference and 13-17 overall. The Alpena Community College Lumberjacks will return to MCC to complete their series that was shortened by the weather last weekend with 2 games on Friday, 4/7 and a single game on Saturday 4/8. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday.
