The Muskegon Community College Cross Country teams raced their third meet of the 2020 season at Kirkland Community College on the hilly Hanson Hills ski resort. The men’s team finished 7th, which was a two team improvement, and the women’s team finished 6th.
The women’s team was paced once again by Macy Whipple (Oakridge HS), who finished in 21:47, good for 10th place. The team was missing two key scorers, however the remaining team stepped it up and raced well. Hannah Finkler (Reeths-Puffer HS) was the next Jayhawk across the line in 23:04, good for 22nd place. Also having strong races on this challenging course was Alyssa Hussey (Reeths-Puffer HS) in 45th and Kaylin Meyers (Mona Shores HS in 46th. Finishing out the scoring was Nena Williams (Reeths-Puffer HS) in 54th.
The men’s team finished only 2 points from 6th place in the 13 team race. All six men ran their fastest 8k of the season on the challenging course. Leading the way with a 21st place and
Leading the way with a 21st place at 29:21 was Zach Ostoin (Reeths-Puffer HS), followed closely by Adam Wolffis (Montague HS) with a 33rd place at 30:02. Next scoring for the Jayhawks was Parker Reynolds (North Muskegon HS) in 30:19 (35th) followed by Jerry Mejia (West Ottawa HS) in 30:51 (38th). Rounding out the scoring was Cody Terpstra (Mona Shores HS) in 56th and Zach Pray (Fruitport HS) in 58th.
The next competition for the Jayhawks will be Saturday, 10/17 when they host the Jayhawk Invitational at University Park Golf Course.
