The Jayhawk Cross Country teams opened the 2023 season by competing at the Northwood Invitational. Competition was tough with 4 D2 teams, 3 NAIA teams as well as 3 other JUCO teams.

On the men’s side Kyler Dean (Vicksburg) started right where he left off the 22 season by breaking the 6k school record and finishing 6th overall. He was the first JUCO athlete across the finish line. The men’s team also got a strong race from Alex Fahey (Rockford) with a 35th place finish, Jude Meldrun-Roy (North Muskegon) who was 47th and William Ripple (North Muskegon) who was 50th. MCC was the top JUCO  team to finish.

For the women’s team Kierra Flegel (Kent City) was the first Jayhawk across the line, finishing her first college race in 33rd place overall and as the 4th place JUCO athlete. The Jayhawk women were also the top JUCO team to finish.

The Jayhawks will be back in action Friday, September 15th at the Spartan Invitational.
