The Muskegon Community College Cross Country teams competed in the NJCAA Region XII Meet at Grand Woods Park in Lansing, MI.
The Men’s Jayhawk team finished 6th in the D2 race, which was a big improvement on their 10th place ranking. Leading the way was sophomore Zach Ostoin (Reeths-Puffer HS) with a 29:24 good for 20th place. Close behind was freshman Adam Wolffis (Montague HS) in 22nd place in 29:43. Rounding out the scoring for the men’s team was freshman Jerry Mejia (West Ottawa HS) in 30th, sophomore Parker Reynolds (North Muskegon HS) in 36th and freshman Zach Pray (Fruitport HS) in 48th.
The Women’s Team matched their ranking by placing 4th in the D2 race. They finished with two runners earning All-Region honors; freshman Macy Whipple (Oakridge HS) who finished in 5th place with a 21:01, and freshman Faith Clark (Fruitport HS) in 16th place at 21:56. Also scoring for the Jayhawks were freshman Elizabeth Sible (Kent City HS) in 22nd (22:08), sophomore Hannah Finkler (Reeths-Puffer HS) in 25th (22:21), and freshman Kaylin Meyers (Mona Shores HS) in 44th (26:22).
The next race for the Jayhawks will be at the NJCAA D2 Nationals in Fort Dodge, IA on November 14. The men will attempt to break into the top 25 national rankings while the women will try to crack the top 20 ranking.
