Muskegon Community College forward Haley Ruiter was honored nationally by being named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Player of the Week (Oct. 28- Nov.3).
Ruiter scored all three goals in MCC’s 3-1 victory over Lakeland CC in the NJCAA Region XII championship match on Nov. 3. The 5-10 sophomore was voted the Regional Tournament MVP. The Reeths-Puffer High School graduate ranks ninth nationally in points (65) with her 25 goals (11th) and 15 assists (17th) during the 2019 season. Her six game-winning goals also ranks her ninth in the U.S.
The 14-4 Jayhawks will play in the Great Lakes District championship match in Grayslake, IL, on Nov. 9.
