The Jayhawk Track & Field teams had a good showing at the Mike Lints Open at GVSU on Saturday, 1/21.
On the men’s side there were 3 school records broken, led by Zac Pray (Fruitport) who ran the 400m dash in 49.63 which was good for a 2nd place finish overall. Kyler Dean (Vicksburg) broke the MCC indoor record for the mile with a time of 4:23.98, and Isaac Easter (West Ottawa) also broke the MCC record in the long jump with his 3rd place finish of 22′ 1/4″. The 4×400 team of Pray, Easter, Jerry Mejia (West Ottawa) and Dean knocked 4.9 seconds off their best time and finished 4th overall at 3:29.67.
For the women’s team Faith Clark (Fruitport) finished the 800m with a time of 2:28.12, just missing out on a new MCC record. Neva Hundt (Whitehall) ran 2:40.11 in the 800m, good for a PR and Lainey Canan (Zeeland East) also had a PR in the 400m, clocking a 65.22 which was good for 14th overall.
The Jayhawks hope to have several key members returning from injury when they next compete at the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic on Saturday, 1/28.
