The MCC men’s basketball team lost a road contest 84-80 to defending Eastern Conference Champs, Henry Ford College.
The Jayhawks played without two key guards in the lineup. The scoring was back and forth for most of the first half but rebounding and missed free throws haunted MCC. The Jayhawks were out rebounded 29-33. Travez Nyx (Wayne Memorial HS) was the leading scorer for the Jayhawks with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Jermayne Golidy (Muskegon HS) added 18 points, Jerome Bivins (Romulus HS) finished with 16 points and Vejas Grazulis (Marquette HS) added 14 points.
“They wanted the ball more than us, rebounding is about want, heart and effort”, said Assistant Coach Mike Janikowski. “When we leave 5+ points at the free throw line it’s hard to win close games.”
MCC finishes the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 5-4 record. They are back in action at home on Saturday, 1/4 at 3:00 pm when they host Mid Michigan College.
