The Jayhawk Men’s Basketball team won a hard fought game at North Central Michigan College by a final score of 78-75 to finish the 2023-2024 regular season.

Both teams had motive to win as they both looked to solidify their seeding heading into the NJCAA Region XII tournament. MCC found themselves in early foul trouble, but they managed a 40-35 lead at the half. In the second half the Jayhawks got a spark from Ben Clark (Potter’s House) and Joe Russau (Wyoming Lee) as they built the lead to 16 with around 12 minutes left in the game, but North Central clawed back in the final 2 minutes of the game to get within a basket. Jadakiss Lewis (Kalamazoo Central) converted on some key freethrows down the stretch and MCC was able to hold on for the important victory. Clark finished as the top point getter for MCC with 22 points followed by Lewis with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Russau finished in double digits with 12 points.

MCC finishes the season on a 2 game winning streak and 7-7 in conference play. They are the 4th seeded team in the Regional tournament and they will travel to Alpena on Tuesday, 3/5 for the opening round. Tip off is 7:00 pm.
