Muskegon Community College won their 3rd game in a row with a defeat of the Aquinas College JV by a score of 88-81.
The Jayhawks led for the majority of the first half and went into the locker room with a 46-40 lead. They would maintain a 7 point lead for most of the second half but Aquinas was able to cut the lead to one possesion with about 7 minutes to play in the game. Thanks to a tough minded sophomore group MCC was able to build the lead back to double digits inside 3 minutes and hold on for the win. Three sophomores led the scoring with Josh Smith (Lansing Waverly HS) scoring 16 points and Travez Nyx (Wayne Memorial HS) and Jacarius Scott (Muskegon HS) each adding 15 points.
“I’m proud of the way we finished and buckled down when it ultimately mattered the most.,” said Head Coach Jimmy Booth. “Start to finish this was not our best night, but we still found a way to win and thats a big positive moving forward for us.”
MCC improves to 5-3 overall. They return to action with a 3:00 pm tip off at home vs. Delta College on Saturday, 12/15.
