Muskegon Community College opened the 2018-19 campaign with a 90-40 victory over the Grace Christian University JV team.
The Jayhawks scored off the opening tip and nevertrailed in the entire game. MCC also played good defense and held the host Tigers without a field goal for the final 5:23 of the game.
The Jayhawks were led by Muskegon native, sophomore Jacarius Scott (Muskegon HS) with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Freshman Edriese Jenkins Jr. (Muskegon HS) had 14 points, freshman Simon Obi (Romulus HS) added 12 points and freshmen Dominick Williams (Flint Beecher HS) and Randy Frison III (Romulus HS) both finished with 10 points.
“I was pleased with the way we competed and played considering it was out first game,” said Head Coach Jimmy Booth. “But it’s a long season and there were a lot of things that we need to work on. It was a good start to the year though.”
MCC returns to action on Saturday, 11/10 with a home contest vs. St. Clair County Community College. Tip off is 3:00 pm.
