The Jayhawks picked up a big bounce back win on the road against Kellogg Community College, 101-76.
MCC started the first half on a 18-5 run but KCC was able to overcome their slow start and took a 50-42 lead into the half. The second half was all Jayhawks as they outscored Kellogg 59-26. MCC picked up the defensive intensity and that led to a lot of easy transition baskets. They were able to share the ball throughout the game with 27 team assists.
The Jayhawks finished with 5 players in double figures led by Kylan Shipp (Detroit Northwestern HS) with 26 points. Travez Nyx (Wayne Memorial HS) had a triple-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. He also picked up 5 steals and 3 blocks. Josh Smith (Lansing Waverly HS) had a double-double, finishing with 15 points, 16 rebounds, 4 blocks and 4 steals.
MCC is now 2-2 in the Western Conference and 7-6 overall. Next up is a home contest vs. the Lansing Community College Stars on Wednesday, 1/16. Tip off is 7:30 pm.
