Muskegon Community College dropped a game to the Ancilla Chargers by a score of 100-89.
The Jayhawks once again came out slow in the first half as they only managed to put up 32 points while giving up 44. Bad three point shooting was the culprit in their sluggish start. In the second half, the Jayhawks were able to turn things around on offense and made a quick run to start the half. They were able to trim the lead to 4 with about 16 minutes left in the game. The run was sparked by Travez Nyx (Wayne Memorial HS) who single handedly went on a 8-0 run, knocking down back to back three pointers. From that point on the Jayhawks were able to keep it close for the remainder of the game but were never able to capture the lead.
Leading performers for the Jayhawks were Kylan Shipp (Detroit Northwestern HS), whose line read 24 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals and Simon Obi (Romulus HS), who tallied 22 points, 13 rebounds and 3 steals. Josh Smith (Lansing Waverly HS) also had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
MCC is now 5-6 in conference play and 10-10 over all. They return to action with a rivalry matchup at Grand Rapids Community College on Friday, 2/8 with a 7:30 tip off.
