Muskegon Community College grabbed an 88-85 victory over the home team Ancilla Chargers.
The Jayhawks started the first half by playing solid, gritty defense complimented by a very good offensive showing. MCC took a 42-31 lead at halftime. The second half was extremely intense but the young Jayhawks held their composure and were able to head home with their first conference win.
Jacarius Scott (Muskegon HS) finished the game with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Kylan Shipp (Detroit Northwestern HS) also scored 18 points, all in the first half and Josh Smith (Lansing Waverly HS) added 14 points and 4 rebounds.
MCC is now 1-1 in the Western Conference and 6-5 overall. They return to action on Wednesday, 1/9 when they face off at home vs. rival Grand Rapids Community College. Tip off is 7:30 pm.
