The Jayhawk Men’s Basketball team opened the 2023-2024 season with a hard fought victory over the Aquinas College JV team by a score of 82-78.

MCC starts the season without two key returners so they will be looking for some newcomers to step up while they wait for their return. Aquinas took a 39-35 lead into the locker room at the half but MCC controlled the 2nd half, outscoring Aquinas by 8. Kaden George (Spring Lake) sealed the deal at the line to put the Jayhawks up by 4 and then MCC got a last second defensive stop. Jadakiss Lewis (Kalamazoo Central) led all scorers with 27 points and George finished with 22. Benjamin Clark (Potter House) also finished in double digits with 15. Tate Stine (Montague) grabbed 8 rebounds and Joe Russau (Wyoming Lee) had 6 boards.

Next up the Jayhawks hit the road to take on the Hope College JV on Tuesday, 11/14 with tip off scheduled for 5:00 pm.
