The MCC Jayhawks defeated the Delta College Pioneers at home tonight by a score of 84-75.

MCC was looking for payback after losing a close game to Delta on the road earlier in the season. The Jayhawks continue to battle the injury bug and had to change the starting lineup as well as their defensive strategy. Switching from a man-to-man to a zone defense worked in MCC’s favor as Delta was 0-9 from the 3 point line in the 1st half and MCC took a 43-29 lead into the locker room at the half. Delta outscored MCC in the 2nd half, but it wasn’t enough and MCC picked up the important win. Vern Nash III (Muskegon) led all scorers with 42 points. Jadakiss Lewis (Kalamazoo) took on the point guard roll and responded with 13 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Zalio Harris (Farmington) had a double double of 10 points and 13 rebounds and Logan Manciu (Fruitport) added 11 rebounds.

The Jayhawks are now 3-5 in conference play and 9-13 overall. They make the road trip to take on Alpena Community College on Saturday, 2/11 at 3:00 pm.
