The Jayhawk Men’s Basketball team played a great first half on their home floor and defeated rival Grand Rapids Community College 87-74.

MCC started the game strong and they were able to score 15 second chance points by utilizing offensive rebounds. They stretched the lead to 30 points late in the 1st half and took a 54-28 lead into the locker room. MCC cooled off in the 2nd half but they continued with their great team play and got contributions from everybody. The team finished with 20 assists. Darius Williams (Orchard View) was the top scorer for MCC with 22 points and 4 steals. Jadakiss Lewis (Kalamazoo Central) finished with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Jacob Mueller (Charlevoix) added 11 points, 5 boards and 3 assists. Joe Russau (Wyoming Lee) finished with 10 points and Jacob May (Ravenna) grabbed a game high 13 rebounds.

MCC is now 5-5 in the Northern Conference and 9-14 overall. They travel to Escanaba to battle undefeated and league leader Bay College on Saturday, 2/17 at 3:00 pm.
