The Muskegon Community College Men’s Soccer Team closed out the regular season with a hard fought 1-0 victory (overtime) over the visiting Chargers from Ancilla College. The win clinched first place in the regional standings and a bye in the first round of the Region XII tournament.
After playing to a 0-0 draw through the first two halfs it only took 30 seconds of overtime for the Jayhawks to score. Matt Udell (Reeths-Puffer HS) sent one into the box allowing Evan Fles (Western Michigan Christian HS) to leap over everyone and get a head on it to end the game.
“Next week is the beginning of what we’ve been working for all season,” said Head Coach Brent Kowalski. “We’re going to get after it this week and stay hungry because from here on out it only takes one bad game to have all of our hard work go unnoticed”.
MCC finished the regular season with a 6-2 conference record and 10-2 overall. They will play at 2:30 pm on Saturday, 10/27 at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, MI in the semi-final round of the Region XII Tournament.
