Outdoor Track & Field at Don Kleinow Memorial Invitational

The MCC Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams were in action at the Don Kleinow Memorial Invite at Sienna Heights University.

In the field events the Jayhawks received outstanding performances from Karleigh Jefferies (Whitehall) who broke the school record in the hammer throw and qualified for NJCAA National Championships. She finished 15th overall out of 56 and was the top JUCO thrower, good for #14 in the country. Gavin Anderson (Oakridge) followed suit by breaking his own school record in the pole vault and securing a spot at the NJCAA National Championship meet as well, ranked #13 in the country.

On the track side Kyler Dean (Vicksburg) won the 3000m Steeplechase, broke the school record and narrowly missed a national qualifying mark, he currently stand #18 in the country. Zach Pray (Fruitport) broke his own school record in the 400m (49.33) and finished 5th overall (top JUCO). Isaac Easter (West Ottawa) added the 400m hurdle school record to his name with a 4th place overall finish in 57.02, good for #21 in the country.

Overall it was a hot but great day for the Jayhawks as they competed beyond expectations while preparing for the NJCAA Nationals in Hobbs, NM. They will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, 4/21 and 4/22 at the Al Owens Meet at Grand Valley State University.
