The Jayhawks hit the track this weekend at Grand Valley States Al Owen’s classic. Haylee Ray (Grand Haven HS) had a strong performance in the 800m run with a time of 2:40.22. Grace Sweet (Reeths-Puffer HS) and Maddy Windberg (Grand Haven HS) ran the 1500m with times of 5:12.75 and 5:29.71.
For the men’s side, Logan Wells (Hart HS) ran the 100m in 11.09. Noah Hendricks (Fruitport HS) ran the 800m with a time of 1:58.69. Mitch Johnson (Fruitport HS) competed in the 3000m steeplechase, shaving 9 seconds off his time from last weekend to come in at 10:21.93. Putting up a huge PR and school record with Nic Ruvalacaba (Lakeview HS) in the polevault, placing 3rd for the open pole vault event on Friday clearing a height of 4.30m (14′ 1.25″).
The Jayhawks round out their regular season next weekend at Davenport for the Davenport Tune Up as well as the Region XII meet. Many of the athletes are knocking on the door for posting qualifying standards for Nationals. Hopefully, the weather holds up and they can see the pieces fall into place to punch their tickets to Hobbs, NM.
