The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks split a doubleheader with Kalamazoo Valley Community College, winning game one in 8 innings 1-0 before dropping game two 5-0.
In game one Kirsten Sweet (Fruitport HS) threw a gem in the victory, scattering 6 hits in the complete game shutout. The game was scoreless through 7 innings but Grace Hall (Mona Shores HS) singled in Hannah Smith (Montague HS) with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th for the walk off victory. Smith led the Jayhawk attack with 2 hits.
In game two the Jayhawks were held to 2 singles, 1 each from Grace Hall and Morgan Taylor (Orchard View HS). Bri Breen (Allendale HS) pitched a strong game, only giving up 6 hits and 1 earned run but the Jayhawks defense committed 5 errors.
MCC is now 10-22 in the Western Conference and 14-30 overall. They wrap up their season with a trip to Lansing Community College on Saturday, 5/4. First pitch has been changed to 3:00 pm.
