Softball Home vs. Kalamazoo Valley Community College (game 2 from 4/22)

April 28 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Jayhawk Softball Team defeated the Cougars from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, 8-5.

KVCC got on the board first, with 4 runs in the top of the 3rd inning, but MCC answered with 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning, then added 2 runs in the 4th inning and 3 more runs in the 6th inning. KVCC would score 1 run in the top of the 7th, but any chance for more was erased when a Cougar runner was erased attempting to tag on a fly ball for the 3rd out of the inning. Makayla Thompson (Reeths-Puffer) picked up the win, giving up 5 runs on 11 hits and a walk with 4 strike outs. Kennadi Dykstra (Fruitport) and Brianna Pastor (Oakridge) were each 3-4 for the game and Annika Roersma (West Catholic) was 2-4. Kendyll Bond (Jenison) added to her home run total with a 3-run bomb in the 6th inning.

MCC is now 17-5 in conference play and chasing Jackson College for the top spot in the standings with 6 games remaining. Next up is a home doubleheader with Glen Oaks Community College on Friday, 4/29 with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 pm.
