Indoor Track & Field NJCAA National Championship

Muskegon Community College sent three Jayhawks to compete at the NJCAA Division 1 National Championships in Topeka, KS.

Freshman pole vaulter Gavin Anderson (Oakridge) started the competition seeded 17th but he soared to new heights and finished 7th in the nation on the way to All-American status. Anderson is the first Muskegon Community College track & field student athlete to be named All-American.

Isaac Easter (West Ottawa) represented MCC in the long jump. He jumped 4 places better than his seeding and finished 21st in the nation.

Kyler Dean (Vicksburg) battled illness and struggled in the 1000m but still managed to finish 20th.

The men’s team finished with their highest ranking in MCC history finishing 30th out of 112 teams in the nation. Over the course of the 22-23 indoor season the Jayhawks broke 11 school records and qualified for the national championships in 6 events (first group to do so).

Both the men’s team and the women’s team now set their sights on the outdoor season with their first meet scheduled 3/31-4/1 at Michigan State University.
