The Muskegon Community College Women’s Basketball team traveled to Alpena Community College and defeated the Lumberjacks 69-37.
The Jayhawks struggled on both ends of the court to start the game and held a 15-10 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter was back and forth, with MCC finally grabbing the lead with a minute left in the half for a 26-24 lead heading into the locker room. MCC came out with a renewed energy in the third quarter, giving up only 5 points to the Lumberjacks while scoring 26 for a 50-31 lead after three quarter. The MCC defensive pressure was too much for the Lumberjacks in the fourth quarter, they were only able to score 6 more points..
“We had a good win tonight,” said Head Coach Jason Cooper. “We didn’t come out in the first half with the intensity we needed but we came together as a team in the second half.”
